Tom Kingsbury will be at the Wheel and Sprocket Bike Expo in Milwaukee from April 4th – April 7th 2019 held at the Wisconsin State Fair Park to promote upcoming Heroes Ride June 20th through August 4th 2019.
The 2019 Heroes Ride will bring to focus and honor many aspects of the personal cost of military service. The goal of the Ride is to bring awareness of Veteran PTSD and the risk and fight against Veteran Suicide. The ride will travel through 21 communities throughout the state in recognition of the 21 veterans who commit suicide each day and will include five 21-mile rides in which members of the community can join Tom on his journey. The total length of the ride will be over 1,700 miles to remember the over 1,700 lives lost in war from Wisconsin since the beginning of the Vietnam War.
While serving in the US Army, Tom was attached to a funeral detail and performed numerous military funerals, mostly for military members who had served in Vietnam. This changed Tom’s life and the experience of seeing the grief of so many families remains with him.
Accompanying Tom with the Heroes Ride will be staff and volunteers from The Highground Veterans Memorial Park. They will be providing information on valuable PTSD support and books free of charge to veterans and families looking for help with PTSD and suicide prevention.
